The Winged State 2008-09

You have the dream again; you are flying, flying.
Suddenly the wind spills, spins, throws you and you are falling, falling,
falling.

On a remote floating island the Labyrinth Institute experiments with
cutting edge technologies free from the constraints of national law and
morality. Its desire is to create designer babies, clones, and offer
extreme plastic surgery from horns to tails to wings all for a king’s
ransom.

For one young man the monstrous experiments carried out on the island
become too much. Icarus has seen his father’s soul destroyed by the
Labyrinth, blackmailed to work on its grisly experiments. But when they
set out to flee their living nightmare, will they fly or will they fall?

A collaboration between No Limits Theatre, writer Sean Burn and musical
ensemble Loon, and inspired by the myth of Icarus and Daedalus, ‘The
Winged State’ is a contemporary tale with a message for our time.

‘.highly atmospheric with striking sparse imagery and physical theatre,
including a hypnotic use of dance to an original score.’     (The Metro)
